A male victim has died in hospital as a result of gunshot wounds he suffered Friday night in North York.
Katrina Arrogante, of Toronto Police Corporate Communications, confirmed to Newstalk 1010 Satuday morning that officers found the unresponsive male on the ground after responding to a call for a reported shooting near Jane Street and Shoreham Drive at around 11:50 p.m.
"Reports were made to the Toronto Police that there had been a victim that was found on the ground not moving at that location and that shots had been fired."
The victim has been identified as 44-year-old Shaun Kinghorn of Toronto.
Kinghorn was rushed to hospital via emergency run to the closest trauma unit but according to Arrogante "was pronounced dead at 34 minutes after midnight."
A vehicle was reported leaving the scene after the shooting. Arrogante adds police do not have a description of the vehicle or suspects at this time.
Homicide detectives are currently investigating at the scene.
