A woman has died in hospital after she was pinned by a ride-sharing vehicle in the Yorkville neighbourhood of downtown Toronto early Saturday.
Toronto Police confirm to NEWSTALK 1010 that the accident occurred just before 6:30 a.m. on Davenport Road near Avenue Road.
A total of three people were injured. One suffered minor injuries and was treated on scene, while the woman and a man were taken to hospital.
The woman was then pronounced dead. The man - also pinned by the vehicle - is being treated for serious injuries.
Our media partner CP24 reported that two people were loading belongings into a vehicle parked on Davenport near Hazelton Avenue, when the ride-sharing vehicle heading in their direction lost control.
The driver of that vehicle was not carrying any passengers at the time of the incident.
According to Const. Allyson Douglas-Cook, why the collision occurred remains unclear.
"We do have our traffic reconstruction team investigating and trying to get those facts."
The area around the accident scene was closed for several hours, but has since re-opened.
There's no word on any charges.
