Toronto police arrested a woman who was allegedly heavily intoxicated after being involved in a three-car crash in Scarborough on Saturday.
Making the situation more disturbing was the fact the woman had her three-year-old and two-month old children in the car.
Const. David Hopkinson confirmed police were called to Kennedy Road and Pently Crescent, south of Sheppard Avenue East, for a crash involving three vehicles.
They arrived to find the driver of one vehicle allegedly heavily intoxicated behind the wheel, with her two children inside.
Hopkinson described the woman's level of intoxication as allegedly being far above what is considered impaired.
She was arrested at the scene.
Her three-year-old and two-month old were taken to a "safe place," according to police.
Sunday morning Const Craig Brister updated Newstalk 1010 on the charges.
"A woman in her 20's wa arrested for impared, she was transported to station and has since been charged with impared operation of a motor vehicle, operate over 80 mg and fail to comply probation."
Brister added the woman's children are currently in the care of child services.
