A woman believed to be in her 50's has passed away after being pulled from a home without vital signs following a 2-alarm blaze in Chinatown Saturday.
Crews were called to 111 D'Arcy Street just before 2:45 Saturday afternoon. They encountered heavy smoke and flames when they arrived.
The woman was on the second floor when crews found her.
"The patient was with the Toronto Paramedics and unfortunately has been deemed vital signs absent," Toronto Fire captain Adrian Ratushniak told NEWSTALK1010. "The fire will be under investigation from this point forward."
No one else was hurt.
Crews managed to contain the fire, but the inside of the home was heavily damaged.
A total of nine trucks and 35 fire fighters battled the blaze.
The Ontario Fire Marshal was investigating the cause of the blaze.
