The Wednesday morning drive was mess, to say the least, but Environment Canada says it looks like the worst of the winter weather is now behind us.
Still, the drive home could be tricky.
The GTA is expected to see some freezing drizzle through the afternoon and overnight before things warm up for Thursday.
Environment Canada Meteorologist Peter Kimbell tells NEWSTALK 1010 that the temperature could rise to 8 degrees by Thursday night.
So far, he says they've recorded a couple of centimetres of ice pellets are Pearson Airport.
Freezing rain and ice pellets slowed the morning drive to a crawl and led to cancelled school buses and school closures around the GTA.
The city of Toronto says it had de-icing equipment out Tuesday night and that salters have been out on the roads and sidewalks since about 4 a.m. Wednesday.

Peel public and Catholic Schools are closed.
Halton public and Catholic Schools are closed.
Toronto public and Catholic boards: buses cancelled, schools open
Durham public and Catholic boards: buses cancelled, schools open.
York Region public and Catholic boards: buses cancelled, schools open.
King's Christian Collegiate in Oakville school is closed.
Roundtree Montessouri schools in Brampton are closed.
Centennial College is closing all campuses at 12:30 p.m. Afternoon and evening classes are cancelled.
