For anyone who gets nervous in an elevator, this is the nightmare.
A man had to be rescued Wednesday night after a cable snapped and the elevator went into a free fall.
This was at a condo building at 88 Bloor Street East, just on the east side of Yonge.
It's not clear exactly how far it fell before the emergency brake kicked in.
Fire officials say the rescue crew had to repel down seven floors to get to the man.
His leg was hurt but he's expected to be okay.
The elevator will be inspected by the Technical Standards and Safety Authority.
