Employees of a Markham bank are recovering from stab wounds and head injuries after they were ambushed in a violent robbery right at closing time.
York Regional Police say three suspects armed with knives and guns, entered an RBC branch near 16th Ave and Markham Rd at about 8 p.m. Wednesday.
They say all three are under the age of 17.
Two employees were stabbed while the other two were hit in the head with what police have described only as a "blunt object". All four victims are expected to survive, though the injuries to one of the people who was stabbed are considered to be serious.
Police say it was someone outside the bank who saw what was unfolding and called 911.
The suspects bolted on foot as officers arrived on scene. With help from the K9 unit, police were able to track the suspects down and arrest them.
