York Regional Police are investigating a late night crash that killed a 16-year-old boy and injured four other teenagers.
It happened around midnight Wednesday on King Vaughan Road.
Police say a small SUV went off the road and hit a tree.
A 15-year-old boy remains in hospital in life-threatening condition.
The 17-year-old female driver and two of her teenage passengers suffered minor injuries.
Poor lighting and a sharp turn in the road may have been factors.
King Vaughan Road was closed between Kipling and Mill but has since reopened.
