A Vaughan man is making some noise of his own, angry over fireworks that light up the night's sky almost every weekend during the Summer and other moments throughout the year.
Daniel Granat has started a petition to have Eagles Nest Golf Club put a stop to their fireworks display for weddings and special events.
"It's actually really really really bad. A lot of people in the community has actually tried to contact the city and put a stop to it. I don't think they've listened to them or that they've gone far enough. So, I decided I think it's enough," he says.
He worries about short-term and long-term effects the booming sounds may have on little ones. "I wasn't a dad before but now I am and I kinda understand what is happening. It is frightening for children and animals. It causes anxiety for them."
Granat says his daughter wakes up asking what the sound is. "I tell her it's sound outside. It's scary. It's frightening when a child starts crying out of nowhere, you don't know what's going on and then all of a sudden you understand you have these fireworks floating around."
Children two years and under shouldn't be forced to hear fireworks, Granat argues. He denies being a fun sponge, but rather a spokesman for a very important community issue.
An online petition has garnered over 200 signatures.
