Toronto Police are especially concerned about a sexual assault that happened over the weekend near the campus of York University.
Police say it was around 5:30 on Saturday morning, when a 23-year-old woman was standing in a bus shelter near a housing complex in the area of Finch and Sentinel.
A man stealthly moved behind the woman, covered her mouth, and dragged her into a field where he proceeded to sexually assault her.
"During the assault, the man attempted to choke her out, at some point he then realized someone had approached the area and he fled." says Constable Jen Sidhu with Toronto Police.
She says before he took off, he grabbed the woman's phone and threw it some distance away.
"It's very concerning, very alarming, very brazen and something that we're investigating and looking at very seriously." Sidhu tells NEWSTALK 1010.
The man is described as between 25 and 35 years old, with a muscular build, average height and thick eyebrows. At the time, he was wearing blue jeans, dark baseball cap.
Because of the nature of this attack, police aren't ruling out the possibility of more victims.
