After more than two weeks of cancellations becaues of rail blockades, Via Rail is ready to partially re-start service between Toronto and Montreal.
Passenger trains will roll again through the key corridor starting Tuesday, but service will only be a third of what's normal.
Via says on a typical day, they would run 12 trips between Toronto and Montreal, six in each direction. On Tuesday, there will only be four daily trips in all, two each way.
"As VIA Rail is reaching out directly to passengers with reservations to update them on the latest developments, we would like to inform all our customers that this transition will take time and have an impact on the reservation system. We thank them for their patience and understanding," spokesperson Marie-Anna Murat said in a statement.
It is not clear how long it will take for Via to be back at full power. The company says it was forced to cancel 940 trains, affecting more than 164,000 passengers in recent weeks.
CN Rail began to move idled trains on Monday night.
