The body count continues to rise in Toronto, where there have now been 47 homicides this year.
The most disturbing-- 31-year-old Jenas Nyarko -- who was killed early Sunday morning while on her way home from a funeral.
Police say she was a passenger in a vehicle with three other people when another car pulled alongside, a shot was fired and Nyarko was killed.
Nyarko moved to Canada from Ghana in 2001 and worked at a shelter, and police say they've seen no evidence indicating she was targeted.
Police are still looking for a vehicle seen in connection with the shooting.
Also early Sunday, two men were killed when police say multiple shots were fired into a home.
And on Saturday a man was pronounced dead at the scene after a fight was reported in the north end of the city.
Police Chief Mark Saunders says on average there have been five more shootings per month this year than last.
Both Saunders and Mayor John Tory have suggested the key to reversing the escalating gun violence is to get more gang members off the street.
The violence continued after the weekend though.
Early Monday morning, a man was shot and killed in a Toronto Community Housing Building near Sherbourne and Dundas.
Police have yet to make an arrest in that shooting as well.
