A happy ending to the story of a set of stairs that's had the whole city buzzing.
Adi Astl will get back the money he spent, plus more, and a new staircase will be built.
He and his neighbours had been walking down a steep embankment into Tom Riley Park near Islington and Bloor. One woman even fell and broke her wrist.
The city's estimate for steps topped out at $150,000 so Astl bought the materials himself and spent a half day on the job. It cost him $550 dollars.
On Friday morning, NEWSTALK 1010's James Moore was at the park as city crews ripped the stairs down.

Then, on NEWSTALK 1010's Moore in Morning, Mayor John Tory, promised new stairs will be built, up to the city's standards, at a cost of no more than $10,000.
Astl, obviously pleased, says, "we made the government move. I think this is a great, great success."
NEWSTALK 1010 will cover the money Astl spent, and them some. He was excited to learn, he'll be getting a cheque for $1,010.
