The man accused of beating up a stranger before stripping down and plunging naked into a tank of sharks has been released on bail.
37-year-old David Weaver looked tired as he left Toronto's Old City Hall courts wearing the red and black striped hoodie and dark grey sweatpants he'd been wearing for several days.
"He's had a rough week, we're going to get him home," Weaver's lawyer Blair Drummie said before seeing his client off into a waiting SUV.
But Weaver isn't going home to Nelson, British Columbia. One of the conditions of his release is that he stays in Ontario. Weaver has also committed to counselling for alcohol use and anger management. He is to stay 100 m away from Ripley's Aquarium and Medieval Times and 50 m back from the man he's accused of assaulting.
Police have alleged that Weaver broke windows and assaulted a stranger at Medieval Times October 12 after being kicked out for bad behaviour. They believe he is the same man who later shed his clothes and swam in a shark tank at Ripley's Aquarium.
Weaver was arrested Tuesday in Thunder Bay and charged with assault causing bodily harm and two different kinds of mischief.
Videos of the adventurous skinny dipper were shared around the world.
Drummie says his client is aware of how far the story has spread. He would not answer questions about whether Weaver was intoxicated or why he allegedly had such a wild night.
"That's I'm sure the question you guys are all after. I can't really answer that right now until we get disclosure and we see where this goes," Drummie told reporters.

Drummie says Weaver has a job he will keep up with between court dates.
Weaver's case returns to court November 22.
