Fighting congestion has been on mayor John Tory's agenda since he took office and he says he's just as dedicated now as on day one.
Tory visited a road construction site on Wellington St Thursday morning to announce the project is being sped up by two months.
It is now expected to be completed in August, instead of October.
That is one of five measures Tory announced that the city is taking to ease congestion and complaints.
A total of 32 construction projects are being sped up this year. The Wellington project will cost an additional $280,000, while the costs for the rest are still unclear. Staff say there will generally be a 5 to 10 per cent premium to have crews work extended hours.
Tory says a site-by-site audit of condo construction sites also found lane closures that were unnecessary. Seven lanes have reopened, and nine more are scheduled to reopen soon.
Here is a list of the seven lane closures at condo construction sites that have now ended:
· 2 Blue Jays Way
· 100 Adelaide St. W.
· 351 King St. E.
· 64-70 Shuter St.
· 70 Temperance St.
· 10 York St. – Harbour St occupation removed; York St. occupied.
· 90 Harbour St.

The city has also found a way to avoid a second weekend of overnight construction at the site of the York-Bay-Yonge ramp after complaints from area residents.
Tory says the city is also now using real-time data to improve management of congestion.
"It will be used to measure the traffic on our roads across the city and make appropriate changes to keep the traffic moving, and evaluate the congestion measures that we are taking to see if they are having the desired positive effect," Tory says.
