Residents were forced to stand on the front lawn of their apartment building on Parliament near Bloor.
Fire crews were called around 1 o'clock on Tuesday afternoon to the building at 650 Parliament, for reports of smoke in the hallways.
First, crews found heavy smoke in the basement, but then also outlined the 8th and 14th floors as problem areas where smoke was pretty thick.
It appears to be electrical, but as of 3pm, the fire still wasn't contained.
Toronto Fire soon ratcheted up the intensity, calling it a 6-alarm, meaning more than 100 firefighters were called to the scene.
Chief Matthew Pegg says there have been no serious injuries reported.
