Thousand of students will be looking to send a message to the Ford government Thursday.
There is a province-wide walkout planned for 1:15 p.m. but on NEWSTALK 1010's Moore in the Morning, Education Minister Lisa Thompson suggested students should not be protesting during school.
During a discussion about the walkout, Thompson said, "I feel...when students are at school, school should be a place for learning not for pushing ideologies."
She said the government will be taking note of the students' views but, "I can't stress enough, classrooms are for learning. They shouldn't be used as a soapbox."
Organizers of the protest hope to see 100,000 students from 600 schools take part.
They are upset about recent changes to education, including increased class sizes, curriculum changes and funding cuts.
