Came across this dangerous, stupid and not to mention illegal stunt. I don’t know what this person was thinking but nothing can justify this. @GOtransit Safety Officers are investigating and take this very seriously. Don’t be like this guy, don’t ever try this. #Toronto #transit pic.twitter.com/4OXQxFhXX2

As the saying goes, anything posted on the internet is forever.
A 19-year-old Mississauga man is finding that out the hard way, after a video he posted online last year, landed him in hot water.
The video is shot point-of-view, and shows the man riding on a GO train. On the ROOF of the GO train.
It wasn't until recently, when a popular social media page re-posted it, did it go viral. That prompted an investigation by Metrolinx and Peel Regional Police.
They managed to track him down, following the footsteps left behind, by his digital footprint.
He's been charged under the Railway Safety Act and could face a penalty of a $50,000 fine or maximum of a year in jail.
Despite the fact that he's now 19, his name isn't being released because he was 17-years-old at the time of the alleged offence.
Police had a message for anyone who was thinking this would be a fun trick to pull.
"You're putting your life in extreme danger and could potentially die for a YouTube video, hoping to get a lot of likes. It's not worth it."
