Toronto Police closed a critical link between midtown and downtown for part of Monday's morning rush after an elderly woman was found without vital signs by the side of the road.
The intersection of Bayview Ave and Moore Ave was closed at 5:30 a.m. and re-opened to traffic just before 8 a.m.
Investigators tell NEWSTALK 1010 a woman in her 70s collapsed from a medical emergency and is believed to have been drunk. While it is not clear at what time it happened, police say the woman was suffering from hypothermia when she was discovered after 5 a.m. Toronto Paramedics tell NEWSTALK 1010 they transported a patient in cardiac arrest from the scene to hospital.
Police blocked the intersection to investigate the possibility that the woman may have been the victim of a hit and run. They determined that was not the case.
