At least 26 people are dead and dozens more hurt after an elevated highway bridge collapsed in Genoa, Italy.
The bridge, which was built in the 1960's, came crashing down during an intense storm. Multiple vehicles were driving on the highway at the time.
The bridge is an important interchange between the northern regions of Lombardy and Piedmont and the beaches of Liguria, and to the main highway heading westward into France. Traffic was heavier than normal on the eve of a major holiday, as families went to the beaches and mountains to enjoy their time off.
