Peel Police have announced two arrests in the death of an innocent teenager caught up in a terrifying shooting in Mississauga.
It was September 14, 2019. 17-year-old Jonathan Davis was outside an apartment complex near Morning Star and Goreway Drive when police say seven people got out of a car and an SUV and opened fire on a group of people behind the building.
It was a sunny evening and there were families gathered around a nearby ice cream truck when the hail of bullets began.
Five others were hurt. Two of those were also innocent bystanders.
Police say they found 141 shell casings.
19-year-old Safeer Ahmad and 21-year-old Jahvon Valdez are charged with Conspiracy to Commit Murder. Valdez is also charged with Unauthorized Possession of a Firearm.
Police say this investigation is not over and they're asking anyone with information to give them a call.
Police have also linked this shooting to a second, just over a month later. 28-year-old Giovanni Delahaye was in a car on the Highway 410 ramp to Derry Road when another car pulled up alongside and someone inside started shooting. Police say it was the same car used in the previous shooting.
Police say Delahaye was targeted. He died at the scene. Three others in the car were also hit.
His death was one of several shootings along the 410. It prompted Brampton Mayor Patrick Brown to call for security cameras in the area.
