One person is dead and two more are fighting for their lives in hospital after a fire in a North York apartment.
The blaze broke out at around 9:30 p.m. Monday in a Toronto Community Housing building near Flemington Rd and Allen Rd.
Paramedics say the victims are a woman in her 40s, an 18-year-old man and a 16-year-old boy. Officials have not said which of the victims is deceased.
A neighbour tells NEWSTALK 1010 the victims are a mother and her sons and describes them as "a nice family".
William Hay, an investigator with the Ontario Fire Marshal's office says the fire started in the living room of the two-bedroom unit. At no point did the fire block the exit.
Hay says investigators will examine what caused the fire, whether smoke detectors were working, and why the family didn't leave the unit.
