Peel Regional Police are investigating, after a video surfaced of an alleged hit and run, involving an SUV and a motorized wheelchair.
The incident allegedly happened on January 11th, and the dashcam video was posted on Tuesday, January 15th.
It shows an SUV turning right onto Confederation Parkway, from King Street in Mississauga.
The person in the wheelchair was on the road, and moved into the crosswalk at the intersection, before being clipped by the vehicle.
The person in the wheelchair wasn't badly hurt and the driver took off.
Police are still looking for that vehicle.
But speaking with NEWSTALK 1010's crime expert, Mark Mendelson, we've learned several things.
First off, it appears that both people are to blame here. The wheelchair should have been on the sidewalk, and the driver of the SUV should have stopped before attempting to make a right turn on a yellow.
Also, since the light was yellow, the warning to pedestrians to not cross, was already flashing and the person in the wheelchair should have wait.
"This is a prime example of what can happen when both individuals chose to ignore the rules of the Highway Traffic Act." says Mendelson. "The most serious offence in all of this is that the driver failed to remain."
Police are still hoping to find the driver of the vehicle.
