For three hours, King Street West was like a scene out of a movie with a police standoff that shut the area down.
In the end, it turned out that a 911 call about someone with a gun seen entering a local business was a false alarm.
Police got the call at about 1 p.m. Thursday, a report of an armed person forcing someone into a dispensary near Peter St.
Heavily armed officer with the emergency task force stationed themselves outside the front door, guns drawn, shouting commands to anyone who may have been inside.
Over a loud speaker, an officer repeated several messages, advising anyone inside that the building was surrounded. They advised them to come to the door with their hands empty.
The armed officers eventually entered the dispensary through a neighbouring business and found no one inside.
It is unclear if the 911 call was intentionally fake or if someone actually thought they had seen a gun.
