The Mounties have asked another police force to investigate their handling of the arrest of an elderly B-C couple that was captured on video.
The video making the rounds on social media appears to show police dragging a man down a staircase of a suburban Vancouver hotel.
R-C-M-P in the suburb of Coquitlam have asked police from another suburb, New Westminster, to review how they handled the case.
New Westminster police Sergeant Jeff Scott says no formal complaint about the incident had been filed when the R-C-M-P requested an outside investigation.
He says the department will treat this probe like any other type of investigation.
Scott says investigators will speak to witnesses, the couple and review all video footage.
The R-C-M-P say they were called to the hotel after getting a report that fighting had broken out at a tenants meeting.
Police say the meeting was stopped but the couple was arrested and police have forwarded a report to the Crown about criminal charges.
