A woman in Richmond Hill couldn't believe what she was seeing when she pulled through a parking lot near 16th Ave and Yonge St.
A man, bound and gagged, in the trunk of a car, with another man standing over him.
It had all the hallmarks of being an abduction in progress, so the woman did what any concerned citizen would do: she called police.
Police deployed countless resources, including a helicopter, emergency response unit bat least two detectives and cruisers, and found two teens at the centre of the call.
But it wasn't an abduction. Instead it was a prank.
The two boys were going to head through a drive through, when the boy in the back would pop out and scare the restaurant workers. All of it caught on video to be used as a promotion on YouTube.
"We are seeing people taping things on their phones and posting to social media and maybe not considering the consequences of their actions." says Constable Andy Pattenden with York Regional Police.
He says the two boys were cautioned, but they weren't charged.
