Toronto police are asking for the public's help in identifying a suspect vehicle and the driver who took off after a pedestrian was struck and killed.
It happened on Jarvis Street, between Gerrard and Dundas Streets on Saturday, January 4th, just after 10 p.m.
A 65 year-old man was crossing Jarvis from west to east, when he was struck. The victim was rushed to hospital, but died of his injuries.
Officers spent hours canvassing the area after the crash looking for surveillance footage.
Today, police are releasing some of that video, in the hopes of moving the investigation forward and providing some sort of answers for the family.
They're also asking anyone with dash camera video from the area, around the time of the collision around 10:10 p.m., to come forward.
"We need people to look around their neighbourhood and businesses. If you recognize a similar vehicle that has new damage or is suddenly not being used, contact investigators. If you work at a repair shop, pay attention to this description and contact investigators if you suspect anything," said Traffic Services Detective Brett Moore.
Investigators believe the suspect vehicle was travelling north on Jarvis Street in the right curb lane north of Dundas Street East.
The suspect vehicle is described as a dark coloured SUV, similar to a 2011-2017 Porsche Cayenne. Police say it should have damage to the front right side.
Police have a message for the driver: "Please seek legal advice and turn yourself into investigators."
Anyone with information is asked to contact police at 416-808-1900 or Crime Stoppers anonymously at 416-222-TIPS (8477).
