There's some good news and bad news when it comes to the flooding and pooling situation on Toronto's beaches.
The beaches usually officially open in early June, with full services operational, including sand grooming and life guards.
That has been delayed this year, and city spokesperson Wynna Brown says they hope to have the beaches fully operational by Canada Day.
The good news is that it looks like water levels in Lake Ontario have started to stabilize. But it could take several more weeks before the levels begin to go down. As soon as the levels start dropping, staff will pump out the excess water that has been pooling on the city's beaches.
Toronto Public Health started posting water quality test results earlier this week and all 11 beaches have passed the provincial safety standards for swimming.
The water level in the Toronto area is about 80cm above normal.
