The city of Toronto is sharing new bird's eye video of the teardown of the York-Bay-Yonge Gardiner ramp.
Demolition on the 'Hot Wheels' ramp began in April. Construction on a new, straighter ramp began in July.
The new-look ramp is expected to be ready to drive on in late January.
Because it will have a steeper slope than the average ramp, the new ramp at lower Simcoe St will have a built-in de-icing system. While the technology was installed along Hwy 401 near Ottawa in 2000, this is the first time it will have been used in Toronto.
Toronto's director of design and construction says the system will cost about $2.3-million to install and $150,000 a year to operate and maintain.
