A Toronto coffee shop recently made the switch. A cup of brew that cost a man a toonie set a woman back $3.50.
The move was really a social experiment lead by Girl Talk HQ, a news site focused on female empowerment. It was meant to highlight the 'pink tax', the tangible extra costs women are charged relative to their male counterparts.
A springtime study by Toronto-based ParseHub found women pay an average of 43% more for toiletries than men.
