Mayor John Tory is on a final push to promote road tolls, ahead of a crucial council vote tomorrow.
He was joined by TTC chair Josh Colle at Canoe Landing park, next to the Gardiner Expressway, to talk about the need for funds to expand transit and deal with the city's congestion.
Toronto councillors will decide this week whether to move forward with the idea of having drivers pay to use the Gardiner and DVP.
They will vote on whether to ask the province to change its rules to allow for tolls, as well as a hotel tax.
Mayor Tory says he is "confident" he will have the majority of councillors' support on tolls, but he admits that you can never predict what will happen on the council floor.
He says councillors have to be honest with residents, that improving congestion and expanding transit doesn't come for free.
He says tolls are a fair way to have all road users share in the burden.
