We are getting our first look at Christopher Plummer stepping into Kevin Spacey's shoes.
Spacey was cut from Ridley's Scott 'All the Money in the World' in early November amid mounting allegations of sexual assault and harassment against the actor. Spacey was replaced by Canadian born Plummer with re-shoots beginning just over a month before the film's release.
Now the first trailer featuring Plummer in the role of J. Paul Getty is out.
"All the Money in the World" was primed for a plush awards season release from distributor Sony Pictures Entertainment and its advertising campaign, which prominently features Spacey, has been public for about a month already.
The film chronicles the events surrounding the kidnapping of 16-year-old John Paul Getty III and his mother's attempt to convince J. Paul Getty, his billionaire grandfather, to pay the ransom.
In an interview with Entertainment Weekly, Scott says re-shoots will wrap Wednesday, a month and a week before the film's December 22 release. He tells the magazine the studio never thought he'd be able to finish the film but he never considered delaying the film. "I move like lightning, "Scott said.
Actress Michelle Williams tells the magazine she feels proud to be part of re-jigged movie.
"When this idea was hatched, I immediately started to feel better. This doesn't do anything to ease the suffering of people who were all too personally affected by Kevin Spacey, but it is our little act of trying to right a wrong. And it sends a message to predators — you can't get away with this anymore. Something will be done.”
87-year-old Plummer was reportedly Scott's first choice for the role of J. Paul Getty, but the director was pressured into casting a bigger name. Plummer is probably best known for "The Sound of Music." He won his first Oscar in 2012 for the film "Beginners."
