The TTC is promising a cooler, more comfortable ride on the Bloor-Danforth line this summer.
There were so many complaints about hot cars last year, that mayor John Tory took a ride to experience it himself, saying the discomfort was "considerable."
TTC CEO Andy Byford says staff spent the winter upgrading the 15-year-old trains, making sure they have working air-conditioning.
Half the trains have been overhauled so far, and while Byford admits there will still be the "odd" hot car, he promises there won't be widespread problems anymore.
The upgrade work was already being completed but has been sped up at a cost of $13.5-million-dollars. About half the trains have been overhauled so far.
The TTC plans to modernize Line 2 with brand new trains in the next 8-10 years, Byford says. The board has asked for funding from the federal government and expects the project to cost more than a billion dollars.
