Toronto Police have released brutal, shocking security camera footage of a shooting death last week.
It was Thursday just before 3 a.m., Anthony Soreas was standing in the lobby of an apartment building at 6 Glamorgan Ave., in the neighbourhood of Kennedy and Ellesmere in Scarborough, when he was gunned down by two men and killed.
The video shows him standing at the buzzer, waiting to get in, holding some fast food takeout.
Two men come rushing towards the front windows, both their arms extended, semi-automatic pistols aimed at the lobby.
Soreas sees them and tries to duck.
The two men beginning shooting through the glass instantly, emptying their handguns. At one point, one of the suspect's realizes he's touched the door frame by holding it open, wipes his fingerprints with the sleeve of his hoodie, and then continues to shoot the 33-year-old.
Toronto Police haven't figured out the motive, yet, but say it's clear Soreas was the intended target.
Moments before the shooting Soreas was dropped off by a friend in a white Hyundai. That friend was still parked out front when the gunmen came running towards the building but he took off out of fear for his own safety. He returned a short time later and is cooperating with police.
The two suspects took off in a white Ford Fusion that was waiting for them.
When news of the shooting spread, Drake posted to his Instagram account calling Soreas "family" and a "brother." The pair were very good friends. Soreas's family tells Toronto Police some of them have also met Drake.
Toronto Police are not only encouraging anyone with information to come forward, but they're also asking Drake to use his Twitter account to encourage anyone that can help the investigation to get in touch with police.
