Don't get too comfortable. It isn't time to permanently swap your bulky knits for shorts just yet.
Southern Ontario basked in record-breaking warmth over the weekend. The mercury soared above the typical mid-February high of minus 1 into the double digits. Toronto set a new high Saturday with a reading of 11.9 Celsius at Pearson Airport.
The temperature is expected to stay well above seasonal for the rest of the work week. With a forecasted high of 12 degrees on Wednesday, Toronto could bust another record set in 1981.
But Environment Canada meteorologist Kelly Hobelman warns a return to wintry conditions is just around the corner.
"We have a low pressure system moving in for the weekend," Hobelman tells NEWSTALK 1010. "Behind that low we'll see temperatures drop a bit to give us highs of minus one on Sunday."
Hobelman says there could also be a chance of flurries into the early part of next week.
"Definitely don't pack your winter gear away by any means."
