Toronto Police are investigating the death of a 41-year-old mother of three found dead in a bedroom of her home in East York.
Officers say they were called to 72 Torrens Avenue, in the Pape and O'Connor area, at about 2:15 Saturday morning, where they found the "lifeless body of a woman."
The woman, identified as Rhoderie Estrada, was pronounced dead at the scene.
“We are alleging that sometime between Friday at 10:30 p.m. and Saturday at 2:15 a.m., an unknown person entered the dwelling by a side window and subsequently caused the death of Ms. Estrada,” Det. Sgt. Mike Carbone said at a news conference Saturday afternoon.
An autopsy is scheduled for Sunday morning. In the meantime, officers are canvassing the area for witnesses as well as any surveillance footage that might be available.
Estrada is the second woman to be murdered in Toronto this week, and follows the stabbing death of a 21-year-old woman in the Annex on Wednesday afternoon.
This is Toronto's 33rd homicide of the year.
