The woman who was captured on video hurling racist slurs at a man in Nathan Phillips Square made her first court appearance today.
Currently, she faces one count of assault and three counts of assaulting a peace officer.
Talya Davidson's file began at the College Park courthouse but was moved to the mental health court at Old City Hall where it was eventually dealt with this afternoon.
While waiting for Davidson's matter to be called, two police officers walked into the court house and told the Crown they would be re-arresting her because a court officer had allegedly been assaulted. No additional charges have been confirmed.
A publication ban prevents us from reporting on the details of the proceedings but we can tell you Davidson appeared wearing the same blue dress she was wearing yesterday and was flanked by three jail guards in the prisoners box.
Her father was sitting in court but declined to speak with us. We do know her lawyer has been hired by her family.
The matter returns to Old City Hall on September 12th.
