A TTC driver has been left shaken after a woman got on his bus claiming she had a weapon and ordered him drive to a specific location.
It happened shortly after 11:30 p.m. Sunday after the bus had dropped off passengers at the Eglinton West subway station.
One woman got on, immediately told the driver she had a weapon and told him to drive.
He complied, but discretely activated his alarm to inform the TTC he was in danger.
However, once police got to the bus a few minutes later, she told him to keep driving and he ended up crashing into the back of a cruiser.
The bus came to a stop, followed by officers rushing in and arresting the woman.
It turns out she had nothing on her.
Const. Allyson Douglas-Cook said a 36-year-old woman has been charged with kidnapping and assault with a weapon, in connection to the bus hitting the police car.
She added the driver acted as he should have.
"This driver was completely unaware as to what this woman did in fact have on her or what her abilities wer," she said. "All he knows is that she indicated that she had some kind of a woman and he was instructed to basically drive in a certain direction and he complied, which is what we advise."
Although he was not hurt, there was an injury.
"One of the officers did suffer minor injuries, whiplash, by being struck by the bus, but that officer is okay," she said.
TTC spokesperson Susan Sperling said it's a relief this didn't end up worse.
"We're just really grateful," she said. "Our operator, though extremely distraught, is physically unharmed."
