A woman is fighting for her life after being pulled from an apartment fire on Bellamy Road near Eglinton in Scarborough.
Toronto Fire told NEWSTALK1010 the call came in shortly before 11 a.m. Sunday, for reports of smoke coming from a unit's balcony door at 126 Bellamy Road North.
They found the woman inside the unit and immediately performed CPR.
"The information that I have is that she was vital signs absent upon being brought outside," Fire Chief Matthew Pegg told CP24. "Our crews commenced patient care, very quickly transferred to the care of Toronto Paramedics."
The woman was rushed to Scarborough General Hospital. There is currently no update on her condition.
Fire crews were able to contain the flames to the one unit and it was put out quickly.
Although no other injuries were reported, several others were assessed by paramedics in the lobby area of the building.
The Ontario Fire Marshal has been notified. Due to the severity of the woman's injuries, Pegg said it's likely the OFM will be called in to investigate.
There's no word yet as to the cause of the fire.
