Sometimes, you get lucky.
For one driver in Mississauga, that day came on Thursday.
Provincial Police say there was a collision around 8 o'clock in the morning on Thursday, on the westbound QEW near Hurontario. A vehicle smashed into the centre guide rail, which is made up of wooden posts and a metal beam.
But one of those wooden posts broke off and was pitched into on-coming traffic, smashing through the windshied of an on-coming car.
Believe it or not, the driver wasn't seriously hurt.
"The way it entered the vehicle, it got hung up on the steering collumn." says OPP Sgt Kerry Schmidt.
"Fortunately only minor injuries and scrapes to the other driver involved, but this could have been much worse."
No charges have been laid in the original crash.
