The Wynne government says it will introduce legislation this fall to create safe zones around the province's abortion clinics.
Attorney General Yasir Naqvi says they will introduce the Safe Access to Abortion Services Act that, if passed, would protect the safety, security, health, and privacy of women and health care providers.
The homes of clinic staff, and the homes and offices of other regulated health professionals who provide these services, would be included in the safe zones.
Abortion-related protests would be prohibited, as well as any activity that intimidates or interferes with women trying to access abortion services.
The size of the automatic safe zones would be 50 metres, but health professionals would be able to apply for up to 150 metres around their offices.
Anyone who violates the new rules would face up to a $5,000 fine and six months in jail.
PC leader Patrick Brown responded to the legislation on social media.
