A sentencing hearing is set to take place today in San Francisco for the Kazakhstan-born Canadian citizen who pleaded guilty to nine charges stemming from a massive data breach at Yahoo.
Karim Baratov was arrested in Hamilton last March and pleaded guilty in November to conspiracy to commit computer fraud and abuse, and eight counts of aggravated identity theft.
U-S authorities had alleged Baratov was a ``hacker for hire'' in a data breach directed by Russian intelligence agents that affected at least 500-million Yahoo user accounts dating back to 2014.
