The York Region District School Board announcing tonight that it will stagger the start of the school year.
“We are planning a staggered entry for elementary and secondary schools to help students learn routines and become familiar with their new learning environments,” said YRDSB Director of Education Louise Sirisko in a letter to parents today.
Details of the plan have not yet been released, but the school board intends to make them available soon.
The news comes just a day after the Ministry of Education gave school boards in Ontario the greenlight to stagger the start of the school year during the first two weeks, if necessary.
