It would seem a little absurd, that by now, people still need to be warned.
Police in York Region are putting out that message after they were called on Wedesday afternoon, for a dog left in a car in the parking lot of Vaughan Mills Mall, for over an hour.
The person who called, said they saw the large grey dog panting heavily in the car.
Officers were able to gain entry to the car, likely using a "slim-jim" to open the locks on the doors.
But they say they can and will break your window, to get the animal out safely.
In this case, there haven't been any charges laid, but officers were still on scene talking with the animal owner, late into the afternoon.
