Police in York Region are investigating racist graffiti and threats spray-painted on the garage door of a home owned by a Jewish resident in Thornhill.
Speaking to CP24, homeowner Andrew Sefton, expressed his concerns for his family and young sons, but wasn't sure he felt targeted.
"I don't know that I want to say I feel targeted. I know the police are dealing with this. They've escalated this so that it's beyond personal property damage. It's been assigned to the Hate Crimes unit and so I've been contacted by the Hate Crimes unit and they're going to be canvassing my neighbours to see if anybody has video footage and I trust that they'll be able to resolve this."
The anti-Semitic symbol (removed in copy of image attached to this story} was discovered late Friday at the home in the Dufferin Street and Major Mackenzie Drive area.
In a statement, Thornhill area MPP Gila Martow said, "It's heartbreaking to see the Jewish community targeted by hate once again."
She also noted that the disturbing graffiti was found on the same weekend as the shooting at a synagogue in California, that left one person dead and three others injured.
