Environment Canada has never seen a July this hot.
The weather agency says this month was the hottest July since data collection began 84 years ago.
The average temperature was 25 C, beating a July record set in 2011.
The heat broke several other records.
The average daytime high for the month was 30.3 C, matching a record set in 1951.
17 of the last 30 days, we've seen temperatures above 30 C, a number not seen in 65 years.
Environment Canada Senior Climatologist, Dave Phillips, tells the Toronto Star we'd typically see six or seven days above 30 C.
It sounds like we're about to get a break from the heat though.
Toronto is expected to see highs in the low to mid 20s starting on Sunday and continuing into next week.
